Reading Erotic Literature; Towards an Evaluation tool for its Inclusion in the English Subject

Abstract
Erotic literature is popular among the youth today. It 's been a source of entertainment for students. Furthermore, its suits their interest as they go through reading. As year pass by, literature developes. It is not only box up with classical literature but the modern one. The interest of the students also change as society arouse their interest in reading erotic literature. In this regard, the researchers mean to explore perspective of both senior high school students and teachers for an in depth understanding towards its inclusion in the english subjects. The researchers created an evaluation tool to be help for teachers in determining whether erotic literature can be included. The reserchers used descriptive-exploratory approach to completely figure out the dilemma in the nature of erotic literature. Moreover, the researchers conducting semi-structured interview, the reserchers interviewed teh (10) senior high school students as guided by the principle of data saturation. After the interviews, innumerable reading and re-reading of the trancribed interviewsand combined within the interviews, and eventually formed as common emerged theme. Likewise, after the interview the reserchers formulated the evaluation tool to be answered by the techer and consequently checked its realiabilit. The researhers results revealed four surfacing themes; Perspective of the studen about erotic literature connection of the students to erotic literature. benefits and drawbacks, and literary source. When it comes to perspective of students about erotic literature it is described to be kind of art wherein they can express what they are feeling in spite of sexual and plesurable wordsthat they read. The connection of the student to the erotic literature reveals that they curious in every sexual and pleasurable words and they are able to widen their imagination that helps them to connect to the plot of the story.There are many benefits that an erotic literature gives to the students like; (1) the students will have an edge about topic like erotic literature; (2) the students will become open minded, (3) the studnets will have additional words to their vocabulary and (4) the students will usethier critical thinking skills as they think deeper. Onthe other hand, there are also drawbacks when students are reading erotic literature; (1) somehow not yet suitable for young ages of the students, (2) never stop doing it and it will end up through addiction, (3) it will cause harm to the child's mind and (4) wrong idea about eroticism without the right explanation of adults. From the responses of the informant, an evaluation tools was formulated intended to assess if an erotic literature can be included in the english subjec. The tool was pilot tested undergoing validation and reliability test. The test revealed a cronbach's alpha value of 0.93, translated to being reliable tool. Based on the findings it is then included that the evaluation tool can be an insrttrument in deciding the inclusion of erotic literature.
