Abstract
This thesis is focus on the perception and problems of maritime students of the difficult subjects required in their course.
To know how many first year students taking up Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) consider the most difficult subjects to study for this second semester S.Y. 2013-2014.
The researchers conducted surveys and interviews to answer the questions relative to this study about the perception and problems of maritime students on what they consider as the most difficult subjects in their course.
The researchers gave recommendations and suggestions to the respondents of this thesis to lessen the difficulties encountered in completing the subjects.
Based on the findings, according to their level of difficulties the most difficult subject to study for this semester according to the respondents is Nay. 102 Terrestrial and Coastal Navigation 2 ; followed by Chem. III General Chemistry; Math 103 Solid Mensuration; EngI. 102 Writing in the Discipline and Hum 113 World Culture and Geography.
Completion on difficult aforementioned subjects is urgent, important and requisite. Encouragement, improved methods of teaching and strategies must be presented to the learners to he more interesting and focused in order to enhance scholastic performance to gain better chances of academic excellence and higher passing rating.
