Abstract
This study aimed to reveal the Predictors of School Performance in a Higher Education like Maritime Education. Specifically, it aimed to answer the following. How may the college of maritime education of DYCI be described in terms of; physical environment, social environment, and educational environment? How do these factors singly orin combination affect the students’ school performances leading DYCI into a higher education maritime institution?
The following revealed by the study the factor “the structure of the buildings are well-constructed (e.g. painted, free from cracks, etc.)” was rated agree by the respondents with a mean of 4.19 and rankedfirst among 5 items under this component. It means that the physical environment of the school must be well-constructed not only to gain attention from students and their parents but also to increase interest on students’ learning. Well-constructed and well- designed stwctures entail learning which is conducive.
In the light of the findings of the study the following conclusion were made the predictors of school performance that can lead DYCI College of Maritime Education to a higher education maritime institution are the school physical environment, school educational environment, and school social environment.
The researchers offers the following recommendation any developed predictors andlor factors of school performance designed for any maritime institution leading to a higher education maritime institution should be assessed carefully.
