Abstract
All maritime institutions are under semi-military discipline to recognize the rules and regulation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for Bachelor Degree, Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) for associate degree and also the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Just like other maritime institutions the Dr. Yanga,s Colleges Inc. provides semi-military training to students. Organizations in the first two categories are described as “semi-military” in this article, and the third category is characterized as “paramilitary.” Legally established entities can be divided further into those that are intended to support the armed forces through the provision of various services and those that are designed to supplement or substitute for the armed forces in order to keep the military services focused on defnse against foreign threats and, further, to free them from tasks such as suppression of internal unrest or enforcement of controversial laws. Semi-military organizations vary considerably, ranging from those that have constituted little more than concealed armies to those that consist of unarmed men and women who have been recruited for largely humanitarian duties. The study aimed to determine the effects of semi military discipline of first year students. Personal profile of the respondents in terms of age, sex and course. Semi-military discipline approaches used by the CME in terms of academic, behavior/discipline, leadership andpersonality/self esteem. The implications of findings to trainers, faculty andadministration.
