Abstract
For the methodology of this study the researchers use a descriptive type of survey questionnaire to determine the students’ perception with the teaching methodology of B.A. Professors who are teaching major subjects categorized as Expert:, Formal Authority, Personal Model, Facilitator and Delegator that greatly affect their academic performance which are measured by excellent, satisfactory, fair and poor. To test the significance or non — significance of the null hypothesis two categorical variables (Teaching methodology and Academic Performance) are tested using the Chi — Square test of Independence. Out of 78 B.A. students, only 34 of them respond to what teaching methodology is prevalent among B.A. Professors from their own point of view and its corresponding effect to the s B.A. students’ performance. Using a level of significance of a = 0.05, the upper-tail critical value from the chi-square distribution with (4 -1) (5 -1) = 12 degree of freedom is 21.03. Therefore the null hypothesis is accepted since the computed test statistic X2 = 8.86 is less than 21.03.
After processing all the gathered data the researchers answer the questions coming from the statement of the problem. The teaching methodologies that Business Administration Professors are commonly used are Personal Model and Facifitator and the effect of it on the academic performance of Business Administration students is Satisfactory. There is no significant relationship between teaching methodologies of B.A professors and academic performance of B.A students.
The results of the findings indicate that there is no relationship between the teaching methodologies of B.A professors in the academic performance of B.A students. The two categorical variables are both independent, therefore there is no relationship between them. Examination of the observed and expected frequency reveals that among five teaching methodologies the personal model and facilitator are commonly used by the B.A professor which results to a satisfactory level of academic performance of B.A students. It is not the teaching methodologies that solely affect the academic performance of B.A student.
