Abstract
Alcoholism is a form of substance abuse wherein one gets addicted due to prolonged exposure to the substance. The adolescents are the ones involved in this abuse so factors had been assessed in order to describe what causes this phenomenon. The students of Felizardo Lipana High School of Brgy. El Canto, Sta Rita, Guiguinto Bulacan, the subjects of this study was selected due to the obvious number of adolescents who drink alcoholic beverages and the quick access to this substance. Fifty samples were randomly selected and were assessed based on the formulated questionnaire.
The researchers gathered the data thoroughly to collect the profile of each respondent and the factors that contribute to the drinking habits of alcohol among adolescents. The questionnaire has two parts which contains the aforementioned collected data, respectively. All the data were tallied and was computed using statistical treatments. Results showed that the profile of the respondents along with the other factors of adolescent’s drinking habits showed no significant influence on the adolescents in terms of age but showed a significant relationship in terms of gender. It appeared that a parent’s habit reflects on the attitude and perception of the child that alcohol drinking is a good habit that is not restricted among the young because their parents do the same thing.
The researchers as nurses had recommended that there should be more comprehensive research. It should be intended for the adolescent and the improvement of family ties to make an evolution of closer bonding that will aid in the adolescent’s change of attitude towards alcoholic beverages.
