SIMULATED CLINICAL EXPERIENCE COMPETENCY OF DYCI STUDENT NURSE; A BASIS FOR IMPROVEMENT

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to measure the competencies of the DYCI student nurses through simulated clinical experience as a basis for improvement. Specifically, sought to answer the question on how do the they rate themselves as regards with their simulation clinical experiences in terms of the eleven core competencies in nursing practice.
The study was conducted at Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc. The study made use
of descriptive research that is intended for the researchers to collect information about present obtainable conditions needed in the chosen field of study. The
researchers used self made questionnaires to gather information from 75 fourth respondents from the guidelines provided by the adviser. The respondents were fourth year college students who were enrolled at DYCI College of Nursing of the school year 2009-2010.
Based on the data gathered and processed, there is a significant relationship between the profiles of DYCI nursing students and their Simulated Clinical Experience Competencies.
Through the findings derived from the study, the researchers recommend that first, to the Educator and Clinical Instructors to have a continuous participation to new avenues provided by the institution to further enhance their knowledge and skills. Lastly, the nursing students should comply with the simulated experience provided by the institution because this will further enhance their knowledge and skills and it will be a training ground for them in able to render safe and quality nursing care to the patients.
