Abstract
This thesis was intended to view the coping mechanisms of the middle aged adults after a stroke. The different modes of adaptation were evaluated to gather information in their physiologic needs, their self concept and changes in the role functions.
The researchers worked on the principles that collaborative management was important in sustaining and maintaining healthy productive lifestyle of the post stroke patients in their community. The nurse as one of the health care provider can assist the patient in accepting and adapting to their disability. -
The middle aged adults who were equipped with unique physical and physiologic capabilities have adapted better irregardless of the gender. Nonetheless, their coping mechanisms were dependent on their loved ones and family members who supported them during their recovery and had been an important part in the decision making.
