Abstract
The focus of the study was about the risk factors of early pregnancy among teenager on selected areas in Bulacan.
The respondents included 30 mothers ranging from 14 to 20 years old who became pregnant.
The method used in the study was descriptive method with the questionnaire as the main tool for gathering data.
Many risk factors were discussed in this research like the cultural, socioeconomic, psychological and demographic location. This study showed how each risk factors are contributory to each other.
In cultural aspect shows that the weighted mean of (1) Superstitious beliefs in terms of health practices among elders is 2.43 in the verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 2, while (2) Consultation to hilot, albularyo or faith healers than with members of the health team, the weighted mean is 2.43 in verbal interpretation of Moderate extent, rank of 2 and the weighted mean of (3) use of herbal medicine than prescribed medications by the physician is 2.53 in verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in rank of 1.
In Socio-economic aspect shows that the (1) Poverty has weighted mean of 2. 13, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 1, while (2) Cannot pa transportation expenses to seek health assistance and hard to reach by service providers has weighted mean of 1.93, verbal interpretation of Little extent in the rank of 3 and (3) Commercial sex and young age on the first intercourse in exchange for high pay has weighted mean of 2.1, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 2.
In Educational attainment aspect shows that (1) Restricted social participation, limited mobility, lack of resource for health care, lack of information due to illiteracy has weighted mean of 2.23, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 2, while (2) Lower literacy level reduce access to health information and service has 2.33, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 1 and the (3) Inadequate knowledge about our health status and where not set assistance in case of pregnancy, child bearing and related problems on other illness has weighted mean of 2.2, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in rank of 3.
In Psychological aspect shows that (1) Family problems that lead to thinking that pregnancy is the only way to escape them has weighted mean of 2.03, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 1 and (2) Peer pressures that sex is in has weighted mean of 2, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 2.
In Demographic location aspect shows that the weighted mean of(1) Urban area at risk for early pregnancy because the people in the city are more liberated is 2.43, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 1 and (2) Rural area is also at risk for early pregnancy because of unavailability of service provider especially 1 remote areas has weighted mean of 2.6, verbal interpretation of Moderate extent in the rank of 2.
