Abstract
Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is one of the communicable diseases with a high recorded rate of morbidity. Given the situation, it is timely to determine the level of compliance with dengue prevention in order to institute the proper actions towards minimizing, if not, totally eradicating the dengue disease.
This study is a descriptive analysis of the degree of compliance with
dengue preventive measures. To achieve this objective, One hundred (100) respondents from a selected Barangay in Bocaue, Bulacan were surveyed.
Using a survey questionnaire, the residents’ demographic profile and level
of compliance were determined. The data were then subjected to statistical treatment to come up with the subsequent findings.
The study revealed that in terms of level or degree of compliance in doing different dengue prevention activities, the respondents always covered water containers, they kept their surroundings dry and they maintained it free from stagnant water. They sometimes disposed possible breeding containers of mosquitoes (e.g. bottles, open cans, old vehicle tires) in and out of their houses and they seldom used mosquito net when sleeping. The least preventive measure that respondents did were replacing the water of their flower vases and cleaning all their water containers.
It was also found out that the respondents were inconsistent in doing
different dengue prevention activities.
The study also concludes that the respondents’ demographic profiles have no significant relationship with their level or degree of compliance, which means that these variables are not predictors of compliance.
