Abstract
This study focused on the nutritional status of Grade I pupils of Guiguinto Central School. Nutritional Status is an issue that concerns all people and government.
Nutrition is an input to and foundation for health development. Better nutrition means stronger immune system, less illness and better health. Most people are born healthy with bodies meant to last a fill lifetime. Many diseases may be prevented with a healthy lifestyle which includes eating nutritious meals, exercising regularly, controlling weight, getting adequate sleep and rest and having a regular physical examination. Better nutrition is a prime entry point to ending poverty and a milestone to achieving better quality of life.
This study describes the nutritional status of those children ages from 6-7 yrs. Old in terms of their height, weight and calculation of their body mass index. In Ilirther found out the problem encountered by those children, in their eating habits, the environment from where they play and the sanitation of the factors that was prepared for them.
The Descriptive Analysis was the method used in this study. The rating scale served as the principal instrument in gathering the data reinforced by interview and observations.
The demographic profile showed that 18 of the students were in the level of underweight and 10 of those pupils are in the normal weight and 2 of them were overweight.
And the results of the study pointed out that most of the pupils or almost half of them were underweight in terms of their body mass index.The findings of this study have implications to promotive and preventive aspects of primary health care.
Recommendations are provided for flirther education, for more knowledge and
implications regarding the nutritional status of not only the Grade I pupils but also all the people and the readers of the study, and for strengthening of pnmary health care
regarding nutrition.
