Abstract
Vaccine hesitancy refers to delay in acceptance or refusal of safe vaccines
despite the availability of vaccination services.Concern over vaccine safety is one of the
most dominant reason for vaccine hesitancy. These concern where mainly due to widely
circulating media reports highlighting a rare occurrence of an adverse reaction to a
vaccine, or associating certain disorder to vaccine or other components. Most of these
concerns, however were based on rumors rather than the facts and yet somehow managed
to instill fear in the hearts and minds of the parents. It is necessary to educate public
regarding safety and success of all other available vaccines through mass education
programs,
confusion.Communication can play a key role in eliminating misconceptions resulting
hesitancy.Health care authorities must work together in efforts to regain parents trust. The
research intends to explore parental perception, both the vaccine-accepting and vaccine-
refusing parents, towards the school-based 1mmuniz of MRTD amidst the
Dengvaxia controversy and consequently compare their perception. The study covered
MRTD-accepting and MRTD-refusing parents, either father or mother of Grade 7 pupils
of schools that implement the school-based immunization program of the Departmen of
Health.
