The evaluation DYCI nursing students regarding SARS is the topic chosen by the researcher. It should be focused because it is everybody's concern for it cause panic to us. To create an awareness to help them better understand SARS (severe acute respiratory disease). It tackles the perception, beliefs, myths, and the knowledge about the illness. As they say, a pound of prevention is better than cure.
The respondents of this study were the nursing students in all year levels, at the time of study their population is approximately 600 students. They comprise of 1st year: 350 students 2nd year: 150 students : 3rd year: 38 students in 4th year: 12 students.They were chosen because it is the period both theoretical and skills of nursing were introduced. The researcher would like to know the knowledge and skills of the nursing students about SARS.
The reasrecher would also like to detemined the presence status of nursing students level of learning skills. They were asked question that would somehow assess themselves on their perception regarding SARS.It means that they were given question that would evaluate their understanding about SARS. Qustion that includes how what is SARS, the symptom of SARS, the transmission of the disease, and persons who are at risks.IOn addition to this question the researchers also asked if they think they have SARS, or someone in their family what might they have done to prevent the spread of the disease. Also what the preventions they have to do like, follow the instruction given by healthcare provider, wear surgical masks at time of the direct contact and wash hands often as possible. And if they caring someone at home that has SARS, they should: Be sure that the person has seen by a healthcare provider: Following instructios for medication and care: and be sure all menbers of the household are washing hands.
The aim of the study is to create awareness of the students. Inaddition to this is the acquisition of more knowledge and skill that can be practice of which shall develop their behavior towards a future nurse of our country. Furthurmore, this study can be a valuable contribution to the nursing education of nurses. Fior the experience of the nursing studnets participated on this study has a relevance in the improvement of learning skills in caring to very contagious and fatal. The techniques learned in this study that both can applied in theoretical and nursing skills.
