Abstract
The preference leadership styles of senior nursing students of DYCI is the topic chosen by the researchers. It is essential to the different aspects of nursing because the readers will help them choose what type of leader they will be as they go along in their nursing career after finishing BS Nursing.
The respondents of this study were the fourth year nursing students of DYCI. At the time of study, their population is approximately 300 students. 50 students were drawn out of this 300 fourth year students. They were chosen because they are the ones who require leadership Introduction. The researcher would like to know the knowledge and skills of
fourth year nursing students about leadership styles.
The researcher would also like to determine the present status of the fourth year nursing students’ learning skills. They were asked questions that would somehow assess their perception regarding leadership styles. It means that questions given will evaluate their understanding about leadership styles regardless of their profile. Questions include their age,gender, civil status, ordinal position in the family and type of family, as well as their preferred leadership style.
The aim of the study is to create awareness on the students on the
type of leadership they are portraying. In addition to this acquisition of more knowledge and skills can be practiced which shall develop their behavior into becoming a future nurse of our country. Furthermore, this study can be a valuable contribution to the nursing education. For the experiences of the nursing students who participated in this study has a relevance in the improvement of their capabilities thus resulting in quality nursing care. The content of this study can be applied in the nursing service.
