Abstract
Seafarer has an important role in the world. Without their contribution cargoes, peoples and other things cannot be transport in another area. This study explored the perception of the BSMT students towards their work environment during academic year 2013-2014 at Dr. Yangas Colleges Inc.
The researchers gathered data by the use of survey questionnaire distributed to a total of 100 respondents.
Based on the findings, for the 1st year respondents Math is the hardest
subject a with a percentage of 24%, the hardest subject for 3rd year students are
MarLaw with a percentage of 22%, the majority of the respondents choose
Tanker Vessel as their type of vessel to work and they like to work in
International Shipping lines in their apprenticeship.
Based on the study, the researchers concluded that in Dr. Yanga’s Colleges mc, the students experienced hard times in their subject even if they are in 1st year and 3l year level. The respondents like to work in vessels that gives higher amount of money, and they like to work in international seas.
The grade of a student must be high enough to satisfy the companies or agencies that hires a seafarer. To avoid a low grade in a subject, they must study hard most likely on the subject that they got a lower grade. And lastly, if the government or the private companies or agencies will make the wage higher, most of seafarer would chose to work here rather than to work to other countries.
