Abstract
There is an important reality that adolescents must face and learn from. We all know that adolescents were known to be identity and autonomy searchers. At the age of 15 years, many adolescents draw away from family and gain independence. This need for independence combined with the need for family support sometimes creates conflict within the adolescent and between the adolescent and the family. The young person may appear hostile or depressed at times during this painful process. At this stage, adolescents prefer to be with their peers rather than their parents and may seek advice from adults other than their parents. Parents are sometimes bewildered by this stage of development; instead of reducing controls, they increase them causing the adolescent to rebel.
The respondents who will participate in this study are between 13-19 years old studying at Dr. Yanga’s Colleges Inc. Both male and female students will be given an equal opportunity to answer freely on the survey questionnaire that has been prepared.
The aim of this study is to identify the level of compliance to house rules/family rules among adolescents. This study further intend to gain a comprehensive view on the way an adolescent appreciate the importance of these rules as well as the implication of being a compliant or non —compliant adolescent to these sets of rules.
