Abstract
The assignment is school work task assigned by the teachers to measure and monitor the effectiveness of the teaching methods, teaching instruments and curriculum is a good wayto identify difficulties that need to be remediated. It enhances students ability and performance, develop critical thinking and a key to achieve academic progress. The local point of the study is to prove if giving of assignments is a benefit or drawback to the grade VI pupils, their parents/guardians and teachersof the cong. Erasmo R. Cruz Memorial central school. The researchers wanted to determine if giving assignments affects the academic performance, familial relations, time managemen, recreational activities and study habits of the pupils. The resarchers utilized a non-experimental designed to collect data without suggesting any treatment or making any change because it is a descriptive survey which uses survey questionnaires to determined if giving of assignment is benefit or a drawback among grade VI pupils, parents and teachers using purposive sampling in the Cong. Eramo R. Cruz memeorial central school. After the validation of the questionnaires, the researchers used cronbach's alpha to test the realibility of the questionnaires for respondents are acceptable and reliable. Thru the use of slovin's formula, the total sample was composed of 249 divided in to three groups; pupils, parents and teachers.The number of pupil respondents were 113 similar to the number of parent respondents and 20 teachers of the school. The researchers use the formula of percentage to get the exact total of respondents of each group. .The 20 questions were divided into two tables, 10 per table. The scale used was trongly agree, strongly disagree and disagreed numbered from 1 to 4 respectively. In analyzing the data of the study, the resercher found out that the majority of the respondents perception was strongly agree. The grand mean of the pupils wa 3.35 and 3.48 for the teachers and parents and all of these fel under strongly agree. The standard deviatios of 0.36 as percieved by teachers and parents had the grand mean of 3.48 with standard deviation od 0.25. The results showed that assignment is a benefit i terms of academic performance, familial relatios, time management, recreational activity and strudy habit. Based on the results the researchers recommend to the teacher to prepare meaningful assignments with detailed criteria and clear purpose for the grading system. to the parents, to get involved in the education of their child with distinct limitation and to the pupils, to built initiative and to participate in the discussion to understand to assigned tasks asked by their teachers.
