Abstract
Military Nurses care for patients within the military all over the globe. These nurses are no different from other nurses as they administer medication, treat wounds, and care for the sick. However, what makes them different from civilian nurses is that they are being deployed to a local or foreign war or being disputed. Military nurses are specially trained to provide nursing care to military personnel during war and peacetime. I They are best known for setting up triage in warzones and treating soldiers who have been wounded in a battle. With this matter, the researchers aimed to explore on the lived experiences of military nurses by attaining significant insights. The researchers made use of two methods: the first method is the descriptive qualitative phenomenology frameworked by Colaizzi to capture the essence from the lived experiences of military nurses. The second method is the quantitative method to emphasize objective measurements as the researchers developed a tool to assess the psychological readiness of the aspiring applicants before the screening process. The main criterionwas the participants should he male or female who have at least 5 years’ experience as a military nurse because they are the second-in-command in a battalionand they are being deployed in the field. In addition to that, they have experienced being deployed in a local or foreign war or dispute. The study was conducted to a military hospital specifically in the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center located in V. Luna Street. It is within the vicinity of Metro Manila. Through a semi-structured interview, the researchers interviewed nine (9) informants following the principle of data aturation. After the interview, analyzation on the informants’ responses has been done. Significant meanings were identified and combined within the interviews, and eventually formed a common emerged theme. Furthermore, establishing rigor was strongly adhering to the study through considerate, gradual and strict involvement throughout the research process. This was finished through establishing certain measures that promote dependability and precision of the data through bracketing, member-checking and content validation. The researchers revealed four (4) emergent themes that illustrate the lived experiences of military nurses. These themes includeMuitfaceted Impairmeiitwhi ch is the fact-findings that reflects their mental experienceswhile there were in the field and/or while they were on the actual area as contrasted to their emotions. Reinforcement motivation represents the inclination of the military nurses attaining their goals.Stringent conformance is the actual work of the military nurses including their rules and regulations to be followed. Lastly, Subjugated Professional Fervor shows the difference between military nurses and civilian nurses when it comes to their working hours. Based on the findings, it is then concluded that the military nurses’ competence and effectiveness can only be gained through hardwork and dedication the traits that military nurses’ have. Stability under pressure was one of the most pointed criteria to be able to survive in their field.
