Abstract
This study was entitled the Effectiveness of Music Theraphy among Dr. Yanga's Colleges Inc. students who experience stress. As the researchers observed, students especially in the college level tend to experience different stresses and coping up with these stresses varies depending on students'perception. The researchers used the Theoretical Framework of Lazarus which is the Lazarus Interactional Model and the Biomedical Theory of Music Teraphy. In this study, the researchers aim to assess where these stresses came from and how student could use music to relieve their stress. Morever this study also presents the different genres of music that the students often used and its therapeutic effect on them.This study utilizes descriptive research where the researchers aim to seek information through collection of data and be able to explain the effectiveness of music. The researchers had 293 students as the respondents. Random sampling method was used because it gives the students an equal chance to be selected. The data were collected with the use of closed-ended questionnaire survey form to acquire accurate information. The collected data was treated with the use of percentage and ranking. The result of this study shows that most of the students were male and their age ranges from 15-20 years old most of these students came from the College of Maritime Education as they have the largest population in Dr. Yanga's Colleges Inc. in the college level. As for the causes of their stress, most of them are more stressful when they have examinations and projects from school. The researchers conclude that as for the effectiveness of music in relieving stress , most of the students responded in a positive way. Based on their responses , music was the easiest yeteffective way to relieve stress, it gives comfortable feeling and brings good mood especially when they are under stressful situations. Music promotes relaxation, motivation and positivity in life. Music can also be used to express yourself and your emotions when words fail to speak.
