Abstract
This study determined the comparison of home delivery and hospital delivery in selected area in Malolos City. It utilized the descriptive correlational research design to determine the place of birth in terms of physical, psychological and socio- economic status of the mother. Moreover, this study sought to find out the advantages and dis advantages of home and hospital delivery.
Specifically, this study sought answers to the following questions: how many the respondents be described in terms of age, gender, civil status, educational attainment and monthly income, how many the selected mothers be described in the location of health care facilities in the rural area , primary, secondary, and tertiary hospital, how may the respondents be described in giving in giving birth in terms of normal spontaneous delivery and caesarean section, how may the pregnant women beeomfortable in the setting of lying in clinic, home and hospital delivery.
The respondents of the study were composed of 50 mothers in selected area in
Barangay Malolos City, who were selected using the simple stratified sampling technique.
Moreover, the respondents’ profile which includes age, gender, civil status, educational attainment and monthly income were taken into consideration. Hospital profile which includes availability, adequacy of facilities, equipment, hospital environment, emergency care and extended high risk care, home delivery profile which includes the full participation of the family members midwives are most trusted to perform delivery and separation of the family at birth
Based on the survey, forty eight percent of the respondents or (24) mothers chooses hospital delivery because it provides more comfort. This also got the highest average among home delivery and lying-in. While thirty-two percent of the respondents or (16) mothers chooses home delivery and twenty percent or (10) mothers chooses lying- in.The study revealed that in terms of delivery process seventy two percent or (36) mothers are in normal spontaneous delivery (NSD) while twenty eight percent or (14) mothers are in caesarean section.
